Labor Day Weekend

We headed to Michigan for part of the weekend. It was our last visit there before the baby comes...how fast time is flying! Scott and I had a chance to spend a lot of time together shopping, eating out, he got to see a movie while I got my hair done and we even got to go out with our friends Nels and Julie. The kids therefore had lots of time with Grandpa and Grandma which is something they all love and we enjoy the break too. It doesn't happen much!

We were home before noon on Sunday which left us with a restful relaxing day and we all got naps in! That rarely happens and it was sooooo nice!

Today Scott and I were busy finishing up the kids bedroom and the nursery. We've been working on and off with both rooms for a month and today we pretty much did the finishing touches. We are very happy with the results and have some pictures here to show you.

First, is a crazy picture of Trott. All day long, I kid you not, he wore his rain boots and this pair of socks on his hands. (He did have clothes on most of the day, but not in this pic...what a surprise.) I don't know what the deal is with socks on his hands, but we found it quite weird.

Here is the nursery

This is Trott and Adri's room. I really wanted to find a theme that could go with boys and girls and found this farm bedding.

The blue walls make it a little more boyish than I liked so we did try to spruce up Adri's corner with a little girly stuff and some pink of course. We like the outcome and the kids thought it was pretty cool.

Adri has had a big summer of turning into a big girl....well, we had to do that since the baby is coming. The pictures here are not in the order of what big changes came for her, so I'll explain. First, as you can see there is a toddler bed and the crib in the nursery. Tonight is her first night in her "big girl bed" and it's going quite well.

Now, the next picture was job #1 of the summer. Back in June we got rid of her beloved "Nuk." That's never an easy thing to take away, but it was time. After a few days/within a week she didn't even ask for it anymore.
Then in August was the next big challenge: POTTY TRAINING! I would say she is fully trained now with just a few issues to work on . I got my wish...a few months of no diapers before the baby comes!

We are very proud of her and all that she had to give up this summer...nuks, diapers and the crib. The life of a 2 year old.
